Can Softdrink Really Affect Quality Male Sperm?

When previous studies mention that the drink soft drinks cause risk of pancreatic cancer, new research now reveals the shocking results that impact on male fertility. Danish research in showing that men who consumed 1 liter or more soft drinks each day may be harmful to sperm. On average, the sperm produced from drinking soft drinks is nearly 30 percent lower than in men who do not drink soft drinks. In fact, according to World Health Organization (WHO), men who have low sperm counts slightly, generally at greater risk to be infertile (not fertile).

This linkage is not factored soft drinks contained caffeine, as coffee contains caffeine which obviously is much higher, did not have the same effect. Possibly, the other ingredients contained in soft drinks and unhealthy lifestyle was affecting. "It is important to note that men who drink soft drinks also have a pattern of life different," said research leader Dr. KOLD Tina Jensen of the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, the Danish, as quoted from Reuters.

More than 2,500 young men involved in this research. From the research found men who did not drink soft drinks have better sperm quality, ie an average of 50 million sperm per milliliter and tend to have healthier lifestyles. Instead of 93 young men who consumed more than 1 liter of soft drink in a day only has 35 million sperm per milliliter. They also tend to consume junk food and eat less fruit and vegetables. But in the American Journal of Epidemiology, researchers noted when viewing the content of caffeine from other sources, such as coffee and tea, the decline in sperm quality is much less prominent.
